Olympic Rainforest

Today we left Port Angeles to explore the Hoh Rainforest of Olympic. In the forest there was an abundance of different types of trees, including western hemlock, Sitka spruce, shore pine, ferns and mosses. The trees are intertwined together and wherever a tree has fallen there are new plants and moss growing over the old stump. The colors were so vibrant in the damp forest.
After our nature walk we dipped our hands in the Pacific Ocean (first time for Tyler!) at Ruby Beach. Then we drove to the small town of Forks (where the famous Twilight books take place). There were pictures of the Twilight movie all over our motel, and you could even chose to have a Twilight themed room. We opted out on that and got the plain room, seeing how we're watching our money (bummer!)...Onto more of the Olympic beaches tomorrow!

  2. Wonderful pictures! Is the Pacific any warmer than the Atlantic? Depends on how you look at it. Have been following right along with you. I will be in TX on the 24th so you should be in CALIFORNIA by then. Will try to call you. Tell Rachel that I have had many compliments on the earrings. No hanging out on the streets!! lol
