At the concert Tyler had a feeling something really awesome was going to happen. So we were standing in the thirdish row watching Roger perform (great show by the way). It got hot and sweaty, so Rachel suggested we go to the back and get some air... Ugh! The next song Roger and the band begin to sing "Betterman" by Pearl Jam. (Who, if you don't already know, is a band that Tyler is a tad bit obsessed with). After the first verse Roger stops, playing the "I don't remember the lyrics," card and saying, "I need some help." And who comes out? Guitar in hand. Eddie Vedder!!!! (Lead singer of Pearl Jam). He finishes Betterman with the band (which the video is posted, a tad bit blurry but great sound), then sings the Real Me of the Who, then comes back out to finish the show with Roger.
After the concert was over, we knew we had to meet him. So Tyler said let's go around the back and see if anyone comes out. There were about thirty people waiting for Roger Daltrey. Daltrey came outside, hoped in the car, and took off... Eddie was still inside. Disappointed, fans left, and about 9 - 10 diehards were left standing there waiting for Seattle's own Eddie Vedder. After two hours of standing in the cold, he came out!! He almost got in the back seat of the car and left but after a few pleads of "We've been standing in the cold for two hours," he came over! Saying he would sign one autograph per person if we acted civilized and got in a straight line!!! So Rachel gave him her pink converse which he signed and said, "Hey, pink in punk." And Tyler just so happened to be wearing his Pearl Jam shirt which is now signed by Eddie Vedder! What an incredible night! We also met some really cool Seattleites and Pearl Jam fans in the process who made the waiting experience go by fast!
Fantastic meeting Eddie V!!!!!!!! You're having so many great experiences. Keep it flowing. I can't wait to read about you're next celebrity encounter! Stay safe and have fun.

SO COOL! I had the BIGGEST crush on EV in the 90s!
ReplyDeleteI bet you were both six feet off the ground. What a thrill. I am so glad that Tyler had that " funny " feeling! I wonder who you will meet next? Be safe and keep the pictures coming.
