We arrived in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening after a beautiful drive down Route 1. We stayed with Rachel's cousin Sara, her husband Mitch and their golden retriever Max. On Thursday we took a very interesting tour of the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation. This was a private tour inside the house of Mr. Weisman who had a large collection of modern and contemporary art, including life like statues throughout the house that appeared to be very real. Works in the house were from Cezanne, Picasso, Kandinsky, Giacometti, de Cooning, Warhol, and the list goes on. The house was built in the late 1920's and had lots of character.
Friday we spend the afternoon wandering around Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame. We searched for stars along the Boulevard, did some shopping, were entertained by numerous celebrity look a likes, and even encountered a few celebrities. Friday night we went bowling!
Saturday we went for a hike in Griffith park in which we were able to get another spectacular skyline view of a city, with a little smog in it. We spent the rest of the afternoon searching for our Halloween costumes, which we ending up throwing together at the last minute. (Not to shabby, eh?) For dinner Tyler ate sushi for the first time. We attended a Halloween party that night that offered a variety of different costumes.
Sunday...We hit the beach! We traveled over to Venice beach and spent the afternoon basking the mid 70 sun, wiggling our toes in the soft sand, and laughing at people along the boardwalk. Tyler even went in the water! We couldn't believe that we were laying on the beach in November! We had a wonderful time here in LA. It was our longest stay in one place but it felt too short. Thanks again to Sara and Mitch for having us. Now onto Vegas! Hopefully we can hit it big and spend all of 2010 traveling!
